SCOTTISH NIGHT CHAMPIONSHIPS / TWIN
– PLANNER’S REPORT
The late enforced switch of venue meant there was a very short lead time to
the event. This was made event shorter by the withdrawal of part of the woodland
at Firpark with less than 2 weeks to go. That having been said, I have always
thought that with SI, Firpark would make an excellent Night area –although I
had expected it to include at least some of the fields.
Thanks to everyone who told me and the rest of the Tinto Team that they had
enjoyed their courses – that is what makes planning worth while. A big thank
you to John Biggar for stepping in at the last minute to control the event. I
have worked with John quite a few times and each has been a pleasure. Thanks
also to Ross for resizing the map, Jackie, Paul, Jason, Gerry, Trish and Dick
for bringing in the controls and to all the Tinto Team for rallying round.
SOL7 / TINTO TWIN DAY EVENT – PLANNERS’ REPORT
From all the positive comments on the day we think we got most of it right. Altarstone was a delight to plan in - red squirrel, sika deer, pine martin, golden eagle, goshawk, to name but a few of the wildlife encountered on our many trips to the forest. Talking to people at the finish they said they found it tough but fair and enjoyable.
May
we take this opportunity to thank Ross for controlling and John Biggar for
controlling on the day, also Blair and Terry for invaluable advice. Thanks
to Marcella for going that bit extra and running all the versions of W60L
that we put in front of her and lastly Marjory for putting up with us both.
