I was really pleased that we had a bonus for the event and ended up with such
good weather. The burn was low and easily crossable and most runners
managed to get around without being rained on. We couldn't do much about the
quagmire underfoot, but did try to make the going a bit easier for all by
putting in some of the needed map corrections. Some were made by ELO members and
some were made in the process of controlling the event and therefore weren't
altogether accurately paced, but it was better that than having to copy down
masses of corrections onto your map.
Areas of the map have changed from white and green to yellow and vice versa,
brambles have grown and trees have fallen into windblow, new ditches have been
dug and new paths have been made and old ones obliterated - all a bit confusing,
but hopefully before the next event more accurate mapping will be undertaken now
that the club has OCAD and can put corrections directly onto the map.
Nevertheless, it was good to have positive feedback on the courses and helpful
criticism about some of the mapping.
I do hope you all enjoyed your runs.

Thanks to all ELO members who were able to come and help, particularly to
Sheila Strain who effectively ended up as co-organiser. The SI system
allowed us to manage with reduced manpower - which is just as well!
Special thanks to Robin Strain for managing the computing side of things and for
producing the results.
The improved map of Saltoun allowed us to incorporate a number of corrections,
but it would be helpful to novices to include a map symbol key if it could be
fitted in.
