Click here to return to East of Scotland Orienteering Association South of Scotland Orienteering LeagueEvents in the SoSOL are designed for competitors of all ages and abilities and there will normally be seven courses: white, yellow, orange, light green, green, blue and brown, ranging from short and easy to fairly long and easy, from short and hard to long and hard. There may also be a long, easy course; contact the club for details They are generally held on Sunday mornings with starts from 11:00 to 12:30 and there is generally no need to pre-enter. These events attract between 120-250 runners who can expect good quality terrain, friendly and efficient organisation, pre-marked maps and electronic punching. League tables are drawn up for each
course over the season with
times converted to points and a runner's best (four) scores will count.
Only runners who have scored in two or more events (in the same
courses) will appear in these tables It is likely that other events will be added to the series (and that the numbering below is provisional) Events for 2011- 2012

More details
Scores are based on the "Average" runner getting 100
points and other runners' times being scaled to points. On the WHITE course all runners who complete their course get "***" instead of points and the tables do not distinguish between juniors who did their course unaided, those who were shadowed and those who were accompanied. 7 colour coded courses are offered at each event and runners are free to
choose whichever they wish. Guidelines for
