Planner’s comments

It was good to see so many of all ages participating. When we turned up in the morning to put out the controls it was raining stair-rods, but fortunately it dried up in time for the event itself.

I hope everyone enjoyed their courses. I realised on the day that it would have been better to have had more different white and yellow courses because a few people did one followed by the other, and must have got rather bored on the first half of the yellow. Also, the score course seemed a little short for fit orienteers, being won in a time of just under 20 minutes.  Apologies if you came a long way for such a short run. Perhaps splitting the controls with a return to copy a second mastermap (as suggested by the controller) would have helped.

Lauriston Castle is certainly an idyllic area with its sea views and genteel atmosphere. It was nice to see such a well used park with croquet being played, tours of the castle and craft classes in the glasshouse, and it was a pleasure to plan there.
