Controller's Report
At least for once EUOC got decent weather for their event, makes a change
from the last couple they have put on at Holyrood.
Many competitors told me they had enjoyed their courses so well done to the
committee and all the members of EUOC for getting it all together in the
end. In future, could you build in a time allowance for all being ill
in the last week before the event!
Holyrood is a more challenging area than
it looks from the distance. The gorse is a perennial problem as it changes
from year to year, and it is difficult to keep the map updated. Some
control sites were rejected because the gorse was too wrong in the area and
there was only time for minor map corrections.
Those competitors who faced the climb from Dunsapie to the top will realise
why the planner has escaped to South Africa and why the Controller wonders
if a few day's hire of a Stannah Stair Lift is an allowable expense.
Apologies to Crawford Lindsay who, having entered Brown, was given a blue
course map with brown control descriptions on the back.
Control 189 at the source had been lifted and thrown away between checked
and first starts. Three early runners were affected by its absence. Thanks
to Alasdair McLeod for finding it and standing it up where it was, and
Donald Smith and Tal Ramsay for moving it back to its correct location.
