Interlopers' SoSOL was held at Calder Wood, nr Livingston on 15/5/16.
There was a good entry for the races, on a generally flat area between two rivers, although there was some scrambling up and down the steep banks. Some runners found the numerous paths and vague vegitation confusing and there were some long leg times. Well done the planner!
Full results and updated SoSOL league table are linked from here.

Over 100 runners enjoyed the very varied terrain, trying to keep in touch with the map (or not when there were unmapped paths. The results are on the Solway web site and the League table is linked from the SoSOL page.

SoSOL 2016

In 2016 , for a trial year, the series will run for a calendar year instead of the previous autumn/spring period.  (This first series will however include the SoSOL held in October 2015, which was the only one before Christmas).

These are already 7 events registered in the series (see SoSOL page) and there are plenty of spare dates between May and November, and all South of Scotland Clubs are encouraged to put on an event to add to this series.   Some have already indicated their intention to host one in the autumn and they will be added to the list when they appear.

Although much of the forest has been opened up and the rhododrendons have been cleared, Saltoun was still a tough venue. Most people seemed to enjoy the challenge and the glorious late autumn weather helped.
For the first time since 2010, clubs in the East area competed for the ELO-phant trophy which was retained by ESOC with INT 2nd and RR 3rd.

The third Fight with the Night took place on the Braids. Despite panic emails asking for a stock of bags to protect the non-waterproof maps, the weather was kind; dry and the strong wind in general blew us back up the hill. Results were added very quickly to the series table. Posted on 14/11/14.
