Festive Frolic 2004

Welcome to Yellowcraig, the (original) Festive Frolic and jigsaw orienteering!

The Orienteering: There is one course in four loops but there are four different starting controls. On your map you will only be given the first control. At each control you will find a tiny section of map with the next control (and control code) on it but you have to decide where it is on your map.

The Game (Scrabble): On the same card as the bit of map is a letter and its Scrabble value. Copy the letter into one of the boxes at the top of the paper you will be given. Before you punch at finish, you have to use some (or all) of the letters on the scrabble board. You will be scored for your best “turn”; a maximum of seven letters placed in one row or column joining previously entered words. (The 50 point bonus for using 7 letters does not apply). The word(s) you are scoring and the score you have earned should be written underneath.

The Timing: Mass start at 11am. Maximum time for course and handing in Scrabble “board” is 75 minutes.

The Scoring: Your time will stop when you hand in your “board” and punch the finish.
Each point in your scrabble score will reduce the time by 20 seconds. Each control you miss out or take out of order will increase your time by 4 minutes.
